The City

Eyes averted in confusion

Stories blown of favours made and owed

The bitter smell of human piss

Last night’s prayer to the city –

to neatly ordered homelessness

to fun

to drunkeness

The traveller, in torn embellishments

buffeted through roiling masses

Sirens flashing

Love witnessed in the grime

Happiness viewed from within the prism of all the leaking time

A fleeting instance of a paradise not mine

Easing into my mid 30's, writing just crept up on me. I had to put something out there - no matter what. So here we are! I live in Canberra, Australia and work in statistical IT systems development and support and am a proud father of two
